Like they say "Beer is good..."
I was lucky enough to have a coworker take me to dinner at beerbistro while I worked in Toronto. This is a fantastic spot, located in the bustling theatre and financial district. I was treated to a tour of the kitchen and "beer cellar" and was very impressed with the restaurant's cleanliness and the creativity shown in the menu selections. The beer selection is outstanding and vast -- and the desriptions of various brews are very helpful in making decisions. I was there was during their annual mussel festival, and the "Belgian White" plate was incredible. Dont' miss the crispy frites served in a paper cone -- I still am dreaming about them, as well as the house-made mayo and ketchup. Almost every item on the menu is made with beer, including desserts like creme brulee and apple-pear crumble. To end my meal I tried Quelque Chose -- one of a few very special beers that are actually warmed before they are served. The cherry and orange tones in that beer It reminded me of mulled wine or spiced cider. All I can do is encourage beer lovers to hit this spot if you have a chance to visit. The beers are pricey, but if you appreciate great food and really like good beers then your money will be well spent. Many dozens of beers to choose from, some names you'll recognize and some really obscure. The restaurant is open until the wee hours of 1 or 2 am each day except Sunday. They also sponsor a pay-to-attend "beer school" that will help you learn about cooking with beer and foods to match up with beer.
